Do I Need Professional Cleaning Services When Moving?

When people move house or office, the subject of cleaning may raise its head.

The situation can be a little complicated and might depend upon what could be termed your contractual relationship with the property you are vacating.

Whether your property is commercial or residential, if you do not own it but instead lease or rent, there is a strong probability that there will be a clause in your contract which demands you leave it in pristine condition at the time you vacate. In some cases, that clause may be quite detailed and require you to ensure that carpets are cleaned, floors polished, windows cleaned and all driveways swept and left free of weeds etc.

There is rarely any stipulation relating to who does the work but only that you are responsible for it and you may find it convenient to use professional cleaning services as opposed to simply taking the time and effort to do it yourself. Apart from anything else, when moving office or home, time isn't usually a commodity that is in plentiful supply!

In some cases, it might not just be a question of cleaning services for the property itself. There may be a similar clause relating to the general condition and tidiness of any garden areas associated with the property you are leaving.

Of course, if you actually own the property then the responsibilities can be a little more subtle and open to interpretation.

As a matter of personal pride, few of us would wish to vacate a property we've owned leaving it in a dirty condition. However, for those that might be tempted to do so, it's worth noting that there may be conditions in the various contracts of sale relating to the general order of the property at the time when the new owners take possession of Cleaners central London. In other words, you may have an obligation to leave the property, broadly speaking, clean and tidy.

At the risk of stating the obvious, remember that if you have called in professional cleaners to help, it needs to be the last thing that is done as part of your removal. Getting your property spic and span in advance might not be terribly worthwhile, given that on the removal day itself, particularly if it is raining, there is likely to be a fair amount of dust kicked up and perhaps wetness brought into the property as a result of your removers walking in and out carrying boxes.

It's also worth remembering that if you are going to get the cleaners in as part of your removals, then clearly things like water and electricity will need to be left connected if they are to do their job.

In the case of personal removals, some buyers like to get cleaners in to a property they are moving into in advance, even if the previous owners have left it in reasonably clean condition. Sometimes that's only for those highly personal areas such as bathrooms and WC's etc.

Obviously to some extent that's a matter of personal taste and just how confident you are that the people you have purchased your new property from will meet their obligations to leave it in good clean condition.
